Activities Officer Update January 2023

Happy New Year! What a year we had. So many miles and so much fun!

Did you know that January 1 is HOG’s 40th birthday too? I didn’t realize it until LeeAnn Mulhair from Apple State told me. Let’s all raise a glass of your own choosing during your New Year’s celebrations to the greatest motorcycle club out there!

Then, make sure you get up in time on Sunday, the first, to get to Powerhouse Grill at 10 am for our annual New Year’s Breakfast. Afterward we will be going to Zillah to take a group photo at the Teapot Dome for Harley’s 10 Rides for ’23. I did find out that motorcycles are not required for the picture so please plan on driving there. Even if you aren’t planning on eating breakfast with us, meet at the Teapot Dome at 12:30 for the picture. Yakima HOG members should be the first ones in the country to submit pictures for that site! This year HOG will be sending a customized poker chip and challenge coin for the 10 sites.

Some of your officers will be going to Portland on the 7th for Harley’s Regional Officer Connection. We should be able to learn some new things and rub shoulders with other Chapter Officers to brainstorm how to do our jobs more effectively. Last year we came back with the idea of the “Mystery Ride” that was a pretty big success. Who knows what we might bring back this year. We just want to find ways to stay (or to become) vital for you.

Apple State will be hosting a HOG breakfast and an “Upgrade Your Ride” event after the Chapter meeting on the 14th. Proceeds for the 50/50 and any donations will go into the Adam Marcus Fund. They would appreciate it if a few of us would be willing to help with the cooking. Please let me know if you are available.

Since I didn’t get much response about the Axe throwing, I have made reservations for a dinner/social night at Tailgaters in Selah at 6:00 on Saturday, the 21st. PLEASE RSVP! The address is 110 East 3rd Avenue (again, in Selah).

Apple State will also be having an indoors Winterfest Poker Run for Pets and Hog and Chili Dogs on the 28th. Proceeds will benefit the Lisa Call Pet Rescue.

That’s all for now. Let’s all wish for better weather!
